Hey, not to sound pretentious but I shot the recently reblogged photo and there was no filter on my camera; it was just film soaked in gin and detergent before shooting.

An East German soldier helping a boy cross the newly formed ‘Berlin Wall,’ 1961.

From what is known, the photograph was taken the day the emerging Wall was put up in August 1961 and the boy was found on the opposite side of the wall from his family. Despite given orders by the East German government to let no one pass, the soldier helped the boy through the barbwire. Near the exact time this photo was taken, it was said that the soldier was seen by his superior officer who immediately detached the soldier from his unit.

Concerning the fate of the soldier, most descriptions that come with photograph say that “no one knows what became of him.”

this makes me tear up so bad

i love tumblr. not because of simple plain enterntainment. i love it because of the game it poses. if promotional values had a game it would he called tumblr. it teaches people how to promote their interests. its a innovative way to express your art, music, graffiti, photography, athletics, modeling, and products. if its shit, then it is not going anywhere. cold hard truth. so you have to step and try again. when you perfect something, and people think its dope.. people see that and spread it like “hey check this shit out!” and when people think that is dope… blam! the producer perfects his perfections more! does the sky have a cieling? no.. so there’s always and endless amount of space for more practice and improvement. you think this piece right here is dope?? just wait.. i’ll get better. promote! improve! don’t stop creating! thank you.. -Andrew
